Following the departure of former Super Eagles head coach, José Peseiro. The Nigerian Football Association has announced the appointment of Former Nigerian International Finidi George.
This is following after weeks of speculations that the former Super Eagles coach will sign a new contract after taking the team to second place finishes where they lost to host country Ivory Coast in the last edition of the Africa Cup Of Nations AFCON 2023.
Finidi George is one of out 6 former nations who have won the highly coverted UEFA Champions league with his club Ajax in 1995, other former internationals who have won the champions leagues includes Kanu Nwankwo (Ajax), Taribo West (Inter Milan), Chidi Odiah (CSKA Moscow), Mikel Obi and Victor Moses both at Chelsea.
George has 62 caps for the national team and one of the most experienced former internationals , he has won major titles with Ajax and Real Betis. He has also won the Nigerian Premier League in a coaching capacity with Eyimba FC.
